Opaque, Shifting, Black Sword
Carried by Avaniel
This sword looks common enough in shape, but the interior of the blade holds a form most malevolent. The blade itself appears translucent as clouded glass, but acts much as common steel. The core of the blade holds within it a shifting material as black as the darkest inks. Looking closer, the shifting forms appear to be black bones cascading and tumbling within.
Sword of Life Stealing
This black iron +2 longsword bestows a negative level when it deals a critical hit. The sword wielder gains 1d6 temporary hit points each time a negative level is bestowed on another. These temporary hit points last for 24 hours. One day after being struck, subjects must make a DC 16 Fortitude save for each negative level gained or they become permanent.

This sword was found at Wildweeper Villa by Jozan, Avaniel Cerelion, and Saluhul Zephyrpaw. The men discovered the sword flying out of the corpse of Roland Wildweeper after a battle with a pair of living shadows.
The sword was originally one of the shards piercing the corpse. Coming outside after the battle, the men saw the jagged shard crumble around the blade as it sprang high into the air from the body, landing in the grass. The men retrieved it, but fearing a curse, despite the sword clearly being magical, neglect to use it immediately.
It was later magically identified by Irelevi Wildweeper.
